Meet our speakers

Peter Frazier

Professor of Operations Research and Information Engineering (Cornell University)

Peter I. Frazier is an Associate Professor in the School of Operations Research and Information Engineering at Cornell University, and a Staff Data Scientist at Uber. He received a Ph.D. in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University in 2009. His academic research is in optimal learning, including Bayesian optimization and optimization via simulation, focusing on applications in e-commerce, materials design, and transportation. At Uber, he managed data science for UberPOOL, Uber’s carpooling product, from 2015 to 2016 while on sabbatical leave from Cornell, and now advises a number of driver-focused data science teams. He is an associate editor for Operations Research, ACM TOMACS, and IISE Transactions, and is the recipient of an AFOSR Young Investigator Award and an NSF CAREER Award.

Dr Jeremy Bradley

Chief Data Scientist (Datasparq)

Dr Jeremy Bradley is a Mathematician and Computer Scientist by training, having done his PhD at University of Bristol is stochastic process modelling in 2000. He took up a lectureship at Imperial College London in 2004 where he stayed until 2015. Looking for greater industrial applicability he moved to Tesco where he helped develop the Tesco Data Science group and worked on vehicle optimisation and forecasting. In 2017 he took up a position as Principal Data Scientist at Royal Mail where he helped form the Data Science group there. In both cases he has set up an academic engagement board for the group and works closely with universities in the UK to advance academic impact in industry. He is currently Chief Data Scientist at Datasparq leading a group of experienced AI practitioners who are passionate about delivering valuable, operational AI solutions quickly.

Justin Tumlinson

Associate Professor (Reader) in Business Analytics (University of Exeter)

Justin Tumlinson is Associate Professor (Reader) in Business Analytics and Director of the Research Methods Centre at the University of Exeter Business School. Justin is also Founder and Managing Partner of a small firm, ZIVIS LLC, engaged primarily in advising so-called angel investors and managing non-traditional investment assets. He has also served as Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University, Research Fellow of the Ifo Institute for Economic Research at the University of Munich, Visiting Professor at EM Lyon Grand Ecole, and in a variety of positions at Intel where he researched advanced networking technologies, advised capital equipment decisions, global manufacturing operations, and Intel Capital’s investment strategy. He holds a PhD and MS in Business Administration and an MS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley, and a BSE in Computer Science and Engineering from Northern Arizona University.

Dr Bahar Biller

Senior Operations Researcher (SAS Analytics Centre of Excellence)

Dr BAHAR is a Senior Operations Researcher at the SAS Analytics Center of Excellence. In this role, she collaborates with clients, product managers, and researchers to improve the efficiency and resiliency of industrial supply chains and healthcare and life sciences operations. Previous roles include Senior Operations Researcher at General Electric’s Global Research Center and Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business. Bahar received a National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2006 and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers in 2007. She is a past-President of the INFORMS Simulation Society and the General Chair of Winter Simulation Conference 2023.
